SAPS is Looking for ‘Best of the Best’ to Fill Vacant Posts

The South African Police Service (Saps) is looking to hire the “best-of-the-best” former employees to fill more than 600 vacant posts.

The service is on a re-enlistment drive after last year’s process saw 529 former officers being appointed to positions.

National Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says, “180 of the applicants were deployed in the detective service, 297 in the visible policing environment and 52 in the support environment with ranks ranging from the rank of constable to colonel.”

“Former members, who left the service due to retirement, were dishonourably discharged or dismissed, left pending the finalisation of disciplinary and criminal proceedings or left due to ill-health retirement, or medical boarding, will not be considered for re-enlistment.”

Saps has stressed the re-enlistment process will not replace or affect normal recruitment and training.
